Jacob’s name is taken from a story in the Bible where the first
part of Jacob’s life was hard but God redeemed him and gave him
the name Israel. ---“You have struggled with God and man and
have overcome”. Our little Jacob had to struggle to stay alive
after being discarded like yesterday's trash
in a house in a Somoli area of town. After two days the house
was broken into and Jacob was rescued and taken to a state-run
orphanage. We were then called and asked if we would take him.
When we first received Jacob he was only a couple of weeks old
and weighed only 6 lbs. He was very thin and malnourished. His
skin was hanging on his little bones, his eyes were huge in his
skull and his cheeks were sunken in his little face. Just after
a couple of weeks his cheeks became chubby. He loves to eat and
is learning to smile. |
